The Stars of Hope Society is committed to empowering women with disabilities through its Hemaya (Protection) Program, which primarily focuses on improving access to safe and adequate support services for women with disabilities who face or have survived violence. The program also aims to enhance the full inclusion of women and girls with disabilities in local and national systems and programs dedicated to eliminating gender-based and disability-related violence.
The program addresses the shortcomings in existing systems and programs that combat the compounded violence faced by women with disabilities, which often leaves their voices unheard and their needs unmet at all levels.
Through this initiative, the Stars of Hope Society works to address the root causes of the exclusion of women and girls with disabilities from violence prevention and protection efforts. Adopting an integrated and inclusive approach, the program implements various activities led by women and girls with disabilities, including research and analysis, capacity building, awareness raising, networking, advocacy, and mobilization. The goal is to influence key stakeholders and institutions in the field of violence prevention
